HENDERSON, KY. (WFIE) - The action has been fast and furious at Ellis Park all summer long, but Sunday afternoon was the single, biggest day of the meet: Ellis Park Derby Day! Six big stakes races were run, including the Ellis Park Derby, and the Groupie Doll Stakes.

So, let’s start with the headliner: the $300,000 Elllis Park Derby, going 1 mile, on the dirt, for 3 year olds.

‘Admiral Dennis’ was the morning line favorite. There they go, and it’s the 7, ‘Big Boat’ getting out to a good start, along with the 6, ‘Big Truzz’. The 2, ‘Sinister Smile’ is there too, but he soon fades as they make the first turn.

As they come into the stretch, there’s a big rally by the 3, ‘Jimmy’s Dailys’, while the 8, ‘Admiral Dennis’ gets going.
