PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a man Sunday night after a two-hour standoff in Southeast Portland.
Officers responded about 6:30 p.m. to a welfare check at a residence in the area of Southeast 170th Avenue, between Stephens Street and Division Street. Officers determined the man was likely armed and barricaded inside.
The Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to make contact, but the man refused to come out. Shortly before 9 p.m., he exited the home and was taken into custody.
The man was taken to a hospital for medical care.
Police recovered a firearm at the scene.
