PORTLAND, Ore. — Multnomah County will open daytime cooling centers Monday as the Portland metro area faces a stretch of days near 100 degrees .

Portland is forecast to reach 99 degrees Monday, matching Sunday's high. Tuesday's high is expected to be 96 degrees.

Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson declared a state of emergency Monday because of the high temperatures.

The county said the following cooling centers will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Monday:
