A teen is in the hospital after getting pinned under a sweeper bar at a bowling alley in Windsor Locks and losing consciousness.

Police said the 16-year-old had a faint pulse and shallow breathing when they responded to Spare Time bowling at Ella Grasso Turnpike around 4:20 p.m. Sunday.

They believe the 16-year-old, an employee of the bowling alley, was trying to clear the lane when the sweeper bar came down, pinning the teen, who could not escape, and the weight and pressure from the bar caused him or her to lose consciousness.

Other employees were able to raise the bar manually and free their co-worker, who was transported to Hartford Hospital.
