Fort Wayne City Council President Russ Jehl, R-2nd, announced today his lack of faith in the leadership of City Utilities and his opposition of proposed rate increases for water, sewer and stormwater.
The department shared in June a five-year plan to invest more than $100 million a year in upgrading and maintaining underground systems. The rate proposal would increase monthly rates by about $11.80 through 2029, which works out to an average cost increase of between $1.32 and $3.11 a month for average customers, department officials said in June.
Jehl said he’s “a firm no” on the rate increases.
