GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks Regional Youth Assessment Center (YAC), as of Tuesday, Aug. 12, will be fully operational in its new location.
The YAC serves as a juvenile detention center, as well as certified shelter care and attendant care, according to the county website. Attendant care is for delinquent juveniles who do not need to be in detention, and shelter care is temporary housing for youth experiencing a family crisis.
The YAC's new location is 1711 N. Washington St., attached to the north end of the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, according to a press release issued Monday, Aug. 11, by Grand Forks County Sheriff Andy Schneider.
The new facility will allow for a safer, more effective environment to serve youth in the Grand Forks area, as well as across the state and reg
