DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Sounds of chainsaws, wood chippers and other tools filled the air in Door County Monday as weekend storms came to the lakeshore and required some cleaning up to start the week.

Door County Emergency Services had a record number of calls over the weekend after some people were trapped at the Cana Island Lighthouse and some campers were stuck at Newport State Park.

“[The dispatchers] took 700 calls in a single hour. I am pretty sure that is a new record for us. They are the hardest working people we have and really grateful, right, because when we are at a response agency, they are the ones taking the calls from the public, dispatching the resource and letting us know follow-up information,” said Jeb Saelens, the Door County Emergency Services management director
