MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) - The Multicultural Coalition, Inc.’s third annual Back to School Drive wrapped up Monday, helping ensure local children start the school year prepared and confident.

The drive collected school supplies and financial contributions from community members, aiming to ease first-day-of-school anxiety for students. Last year, more than 200 backpacks filled with supplies were distributed to families in Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties.

Research shows that having the right supplies can boost a child’s confidence, reduce stress, and improve academic performance. A 2023 American Psychological Association study found that about 75 percent of school-age children feel significant stress about returning to school.
