PEKIN ( 25News Now ) - Tazwood Community Services will take over the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program from Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity community action agency this fall.
PCCEO lost its state-granted LIHEAP money this year due to financial and leadership issues over the past several years. The program helped serve more than 3,000 low-income households with energy assistance for decades.
Tazwood Community Services Executive Director Lindsey Nance said the organization is already preparing to take in around 7,000 applications this fall. She said right now, she is looking to find more employees and an office space located in Peoria to help make the transition as easy as possible for clients.
