COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Pickerington Local School District is just days from welcoming students back, but there may be trouble getting them to class.

The district's bus drivers have announced plans to strike. The announcement came during Monday night's school board meeting.

The bus drivers work for the transportation company Petermann Bus. They said they plan to strike unless they get longevity pay and more affordable and quality health insurance.

The drivers said their issues and needs have been ignored by Petermann for far too long. They said they feel invisible and that other districts reward experience.

Colleen Stocker, who has been a bus driver for 17 years, read a statement during the board meeting on behalf of the bus drivers who voted to strike.
