LANCASTER, S.C. — WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because the suspect is still actively wanted.

An arrest warrant is active for a man who the Lancaster Police Department said shot and killed another man Monday night.

The department said it responded to the Palmetto Place Apartments on Pardue Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. They arrived to find 57-year-old Edward Townsend of Lancaster suffering from a gunshot wound. While he was taken to a hospital, he later died.

Police identified the suspect as 56-year-old James Singleton, also of Lancaster. It is believed he is traveling on foot as there is no known address or vehicle associated with him. A search for him is ongoing.
