LAURENS, S.C. (WBTV) - Two juveniles were accused of stealing a train and crashing it in South Carolina this past weekend.

Police said the minors broke into Carolina Piedmont and CSX Transportation facilities sometime during the evening of Saturday, Aug. 9 in the city of Laurens.

said that the juveniles -- whose names and exact ages were not given -- started one train engine and began to operate it, despite it being connected to two other engines.

Police said the juveniles drove the train around the railyard before getting on a rail that was headed toward Greenville. Then, during an attempt to bring the train back, the juveniles ran into a parked railcar, which damaged the car and derailed the train.

Both juveniles were charged with the following offenses:

Grand larceny over
