CHICOPEE — Pilot Flying J, the gas station and convenience store stop that has been a hot-button issue among residents for several years in Chicopee, has touched down on Burnett Road.

By 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the sun was beating down on construction workers, trudging through the massive dirt lot where the travel center will be built — next to a Pride Travel Center and near where the Massachusetts Turnpike joins Interstate 291.
