LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Temperatures should return back to and above average the next couple of days. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday evening to Thursday morning. Some of those storms could be severe for Northern Nebraska. Heat index values may reach and exceed 100° in Central and Eastern Nebraska Friday and Saturday.

There could be some areas of patchy fog to begin Wednesday, otherwise it will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. It is going to be warm for Central and Eastern Nebraska and hot for the western third of the state.
