CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa’s largest nonprofit theatre celebrated a major milestone on Tuesday.

Theatre Cedar Rapids held an event for the group’s one hundredth birthday from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on August 12.

The event also served as a groundbreaking for the nine million dollar building renovation. It was a celebration of the group’s future.

The renovations will take place on every level of the building. It includes making the building more accessible, improved production for shows, and cosmetic changes.

Theatre Cedar Rapids has already raised over seven million dollars for the project.

The renovations are underway and expected to be completed by next summer.
