FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Cumberland County School Board has adopted a new policy on cellphones and personal devices.
The policy, which goes into effect Wednesday, not only deals with cellphones but also other devices like smart watches and earbuds.
In elementary schools, students have to put their devices away throughout the entire school day.
For middle and high schools, students can use their devices when they're changing classes and during lunch.
Students can also use their phones on buses, but this policy gives bus drivers the authority to ask students to put away their phones for safety concerns.
Phones could be confiscated after repeated incidents where students break the rules.
