PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Pickerington school bus drivers have reached an agreement on a contract Wednesday afternoon with transportation company Petermann Bus.
During Pickerington Local School District’s board meeting Monday night, the district's bus drivers announced plans to strike if an agreement was not reached. The drivers argued that their issues and needs have been ignored by Petermann for far too long.
The union was pushing for better health insurance and higher pay, particularly for long-term employees. Drivers say their current health insurance is too expensive and that anyone with more than 10 years of service earns one more dollar per hour than new hires.
The group reached a tentative agreement with the transportation company on Tuesday evening and voted to ratify the contract
