CLINTON COUNTY, Ill., (WSIL) -- A Clinton County deputy and a Carlyle police officer are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a woman from a burning car on Monday night. The dramatic rescue was all caught on camera.

According to Clinton County Sheriff, Dan Travous, the call for a head-on collision came into dispatch at 8:25 p.m. on Monday. The caller told dispatchers a two vehicle head-on crash had taken place along New U.S. 50, near the Flat Branch Road overpass.

Clinton County Deputy Brett Winegarner and Carlyle Police Officer Mark Taylor were close to the scene when they received the call. They were first one scene.
