Second seed goes down
Mason Howell was 1 down with two holes to play but won the 17th and then got the upset over second-seed Tommy Morrison on the 19th in the final match of the day.
16-year-old Miles Russell moving on
Is Miles Russell going to be on the Walker Cup team? He's trying to make his case. He wins 4 and 2 against Travis Woolf and is into the Round of 32 after finishing third in stroke play.
Wiedemeyer battles back from 5 down to win
Tim Wiedemeyer was 5 down thru 7 holes, but by the time he stepped on the 16th tee against Reed Greyserman, he had tied his match up. Then, he won two more holes to take the match, 2 and 1. An unbelievable comeback.
First extra-holes match of afternoon
It took until well into the afternoon, but we have our first extra-holes match. Payne Denman can’t make par on the 18th and Daniel Svard ties the match and forces extras.
World No. 1 holds on
Jackson Koivun stood on the 16th tee tied in his match. He walks off the 17th green with a 2-and-1 win. World No. 1 survives.
John Daly II moves on
Little John is into the Round of 32. He wins one hole in his match, the par-4 11th, with birdie, and that's enough, topping good friend Cooper Claycomb 1 up to advance to Thursday.
First match in the books
David Leichty, facing William Jennings in the first Round of 64 matchup of the day, is moving on. The incoming freshman at Utah Tech won four straight holes on the front nine and held the lead throughout the back nine and won 2 and 1 with a birdie on the 17th.
World No. 2 Ben James with a big lead
Ben James, who's No. 1 in the PGA Tour University preseason rankings for the Class of 2026, has a 5-up lead through 10 holes of his match against Parker Claxton. A birdie on his last hole helped James get into the bracket, and it has been smooth sailing from there.
Big crowds for John Daly II
Playing in his first U.S. Amateur, Little John is tied through five holes with Cooper Claycomb but has one of the biggest crowds following him in the morning action.

Tyler Weaver on fire early
It's never a bad thing to take an early lead in match play, and that's what Tyler Weaver has done against Connor Graham. He is 3 up thru 4, winning two holes with pars. It's the biggest lead of the handful of matches on the course this morning, but it's a good spot to be for the Englishman.
Playoff complete
It only took two holes to finish the 20-for-17 playoff, with an unfortunate ending for Emil Riegger. He doubles the par-4 10th, meaning the 16 players who made bogey or better advanced. The bracket is now set, and the Round of 64 began at 9 a.m. PDT.
Second playoff hole underway
After starting with a 20-for-17 playoff, it’s now down to 17-for-16. Moving on to the par-4 10th.
