INDIANAPOLIS — Police are actively searching for suspects after hundreds of bronze vases were stolen from headstones at a cemetery on Indianapolis' near southeast side.

New Crown Cemetery made a social media post on Tuesday, Aug. 12 telling the community about the alleged theft. The cemetery said the vases were stolen within the last few days.

According to a police report, 246 vases were stolen. The report says the vases were worth a total of $171,000.

Once the cemetery discovered the vases were missing, they said they gathered all necessary information and submitted a police report with IMPD. Cemetery officials said several sections were affected by the theft.
