PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Tekoa Academy leadership has announced a detailed recovery strategy following the school's rating decline from an A in 2022-2023 to F status for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Texas Education Agency will officially release 2025 ratings on Aug. 15, but Superintendent Princess Chretien addressed staff early to share the results and present the school's forward-looking action plan.

Chretien outlined specific steps to restore academic excellence at the school.

"This outcome does not define us, but it does challenge us. We are a school with the ability, heart, and expertise to turn this around, and we will," Chretien wrote in her message to faculty.
