At 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service released a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 2:30 p.m. for Columbia and Greene counties.

The storms are anticipated to bring quarter-sized hail (1 inch) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

"At 1:25 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles south of Westerlo, or 14 miles northwest of Catskill, moving southeast at 15 mph," says the weather service. "Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees."

Locations impacted by the warning include Hudson, Catskill, Coxsackie, Athens, Lorenz Park, Cairo, Stockport, Stuyvesant, Germantown, Burden Dock, Burden, Round Top, Rossman, Result, Earlton, Otter Hook, Kiskatom, Sunside, Climax and Brick Tavern.
