TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Troy man has pleaded guilty to shooting another person outside a Troy bar in September 2024, according to the Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office. Shateik Merritt was arrested in March.
The shooting incident was reportedly located at Eldorado Bar on 4th Street. Merritt is accused of firing multiple gunshots at and seriously injuring the victim after being escorted out of bar, the DA's Office said. He had originally pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
On Tuesday, Merritt pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said. He is reportedly scheduled to be sentenced to 13 years in state prison and five years post-release supervision on September 2.
