A controversial grain facility planned in the Holy Cross neighborhood will open this fall, not this summer, and its operator expects that emissions from the facility will fall below state limits, that company said this week.
Officials from Sunrise Foods International said construction delays forced the them to postpone the opening of the terminal at the Alabo Street Wharf. Because they expect low emissions, officials also withdrew a permit application to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, or LDEQ, that would have required them to hold another public meeting on the project.
