MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The developers of a potential data center proposed for acres of land owned by Dale Earnhardt's widow have withdrawn their request, Mooresville Mayor Chris Carney announced Wednesday.

This comes after both residents and members of the iconic racing family spoke in opposition to the project at the Mooresville Board of Commissioners meeting last week.

Earnhardt's widow, Teresa, was looking to rezone her land south of Mooresville along Patterson Farm Road for the development, overseen by Tract, a company that identifies and sets up sites for tech companies.

One of the many complaints about the proposed development was that it would give the developers access to the town's water and other services. Others were worried that their quiet, rural neighborhood
