BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested a man connected to a shooting that injured a woman in 2024.

Marquise Morris, 28, of Baton Rouge, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and illegal use of weapons.

On July 15, 2024, Baton Rouge Police responded to an apartment complex on Brightside Drive about a reported shooting where Morris and the woman had been living together.

Police said that Morris and the woman were arguing with each other before the shooting. During the argument, Morris grabbed the woman's gun and shot at her six times. She was struck in her back and right arm.

After the shooting, the 28-year-old took the woman's car keys and drove off in her blue Hyundai.
