Drone Footage Captures 10-12 Foot Shark Near Popular Beaches

A great white shark, estimated to be between 10 and 12 feet long, has been spotted multiple times near Scarborough’s popular beaches, prompting a public safety warning from local officials.

The initial sighting occurred on Monday, August 11, when commercial clam fisherman David Lancaster used a drone to capture footage of the shark swimming near the southern tip of Richmond Island. The Scarborough Police Department verified the sighting and released the video to the public for “situational awareness.”

The shark was seen again on Tuesday morning near Higgins Beach and Scarborough Beach, though no new video was captured. Officials are closely monitoring the area and have advised beachgoers to stay alert and follow safety precaut
