HUDSON, Mass. —
Friday marks 80 years since V-J Day, when Japan surrendered to Allied forces on Aug. 15, 1945, effectively ending World War II, and veteran Caster Salemi is sharing his memories at Hudson's American Heritage Museum.
Sitting inside the museum, surrounded by original World War II tanks and other artifacts, Salemi wears the same uniform he donned as a sergeant over 80 years ago.
"It does bring back many good memories, and some not so good," Salemi said.
At 103 years old, Salemi is the only living member of his World War II army battalion that he knows of.
"The last contact I had was three years ago, the last person that was in our outfit," he said.
