HOBGOOD, HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - While the first day of school is still more than a week away for many, there are some in Eastern Carolina who’ve already returned to the classroom.

This week, Hobgood Charter School cut the ribbon for its additional building for middle and high school students. Now, it’s welcoming all students back for their first day of classes.

“Oh, I love it. I really do. It’s really nice. It’s not so cramped, and there’s more room for more people out here,” sophomore Connor Taylor says.

Some middle schoolers, like Ryder Cannon, have been students at Hobgood Charter for years.

“It’s been really good just growing up here, seeing all the new people, and just experiencing everything. It’s been a good school so far,” Cannon says.
