At 12:07 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch valid from 2 p.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Salem, Gloucester, Camden and Burlington counties.

The weather service describes, “Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.”

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas,” states the weather service. “You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.”
