EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - An Evansville man has been arrested after officials say he set off a “explosive device” near a construction site and its workers.

The Vanderburgh Country Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Joshua Messic was arrested yesterday for possession and detonating a destructive device and criminal recklessness.

Deputies were called to the dead-end of North Elm Street next to the Lloyd Expressway for the sound of an explosion.

Indiana Department of Transportation workers reported they heard the explosion, and one worker reported being hit by an object.

Two other workers reported to authorities the vehicle they were in was “shaken violently by the explosion.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
