PORT CLINTON, Ohio (WJW) - There are multiple sobriety checkpoints planned across northern Ohio in the coming days.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, an OVI checkpoint will take place on Thursday in Port Clinton. The checkpoint will be set up on East Perry Street, east of Buckeye Boulevard, from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.

In addition, officials said, motorists can expect nearby saturation patrols.

The goal of the checkpoint is to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

"If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink," stated a press release. "Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired."
