DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The public should expect to see an increased police presence across the state beginning Friday.
The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is partnering with Iowa law enforcement agencies in an effort to limit impaired driving.
According to the GTSB, 45 people died last year in the final four weeks of summer on Iowa roadways, with 30% of those deaths being caused by impaired driving.
To limit traffic deaths associated with impaired driving, police across Iowa will be working together to remove impaired drivers from the road from August 15 through September 1.
“Impaired driving can take many forms, and our law enforcement officers and Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) are trained to identify all kinds of impairment. Whether it’s alcohol or drugs, law enforcement
