YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A man on parole for a federal weapons charge was sentenced Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to one year in prison after a guilty plea in July to a third-degree felony count of sexual battery.

The sentence received by Brandon Turjonis, 37, was recommended by the attorneys in the case and adopted by Judge Anthony Donofrio.

Turjonis has been in jail since September on the charge and will receive credit for time served. Although that sentence will expire next month, he is expected to remain in custody on a federal parole violation.

One of his attorneys, Michael Yacovone, told Judge Donofrio he expects Turjonis to receive an additional 18 months in prison because of the violation.
