SANDUSKY, Ohio (WJW) — A Cedar Point thrill ride remains closed after a cable snapped and fell while riders were onboard over the weekend.

The incident happened on Sunday at the Power Tower, a nearly 300-foot-tall vertical attraction.

Ryan, a park guest, said he and his two daughters were in line when they heard a “twing” sound before seeing a steel cable plummet.

“It was like slow motion,” he said. “It hit the guard tower, and it sounded like the earth was coming to an end. That’s when everyone started freaking out, scattering, and running.”

Cedar Point confirmed a single cable detached from one of the ride vehicles but said the safety system worked as designed, allowing riders to exit safely. No injuries were repor
