OPD said it happened around 8:47 p.m. in the 1000 block of Landings Court after officers received a call that the 32-year-old man violated a protection order.

Vance, who was holding a woman at gunpoint, fired at officers as they attempted to rescue the hostage, OPD said.

The woman was also shot after escaping the suspect’s control, OPD said, and Vance barricaded himself inside the home with a second hostage.
