FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A new study by emergency electricians with The Local Electrician identified which states have the best and worst times when it comes to severe power outages.

The study was done by taking 2023 data from the Energy Information Administration. Using this data, they found the number of outages in each state and the duration the average customer waits for power to be restored, and calculated the total hours of interruptions each year.

Indiana found its way in the middle of the list, landing at #27. The average customer in Indiana experiences 1.84 hours without power throughout the year. The data also said that the residents faced an average of .95 interruptions per year, and the typical outage lasted 1.94 hours. This shows that Indiana has a reliable electricity
