TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Hofmann (Cottom & Unger) Farm in Vigo County has received a Hoosier Homestead award for being in operation since 1918, according to a press release from State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) and State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute).
Hoosier Homestead awards honor family farms that have been owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years with sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
The Hofmann family received the award during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair. They were one of 95 families to receive the honor.
"Generational family farms are part of what makes west central Indiana special," Heaton said. "These Hoosier Homestead Award recipients represent the values of hard work, perseverance and deep roots in our rural communities
