NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - As Nashville gears up for the Stellar Awards this weekend, one event is making sure the spotlight shines on those who need it most.

Before the red carpet rolls out, the Nashville Rescue Mission received its own kind of star treatment thanks to For the Love of Others. The nonprofit hosted its Annual Day of Giving on Thursday, providing free grooming, beauty services, and live music to residents.

“Myself and other collaborating organizations have joined together to provide a day of free beauty and grooming services to the people at the Nashville Rescue Mission,” said Lauren Puryear, founder of For the Love of Others.

Organizers say the effort is about much more than haircuts and makeovers.
