MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department has one woman detained in South Memphis, where gunfire Thursday afternoon left a man fighting for his life.
MPD says the shooting call came in at 2:13 p.m. from the 1100 block of South Wellington Street, located just south of Walker Avenue.
Police say one man was struck. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Officers have one woman detained at the scene.
MPD says the investigation is ongoing.
About 20 minutes after the shooting call came in, MPD says a carjacking suspect crashed out at South Wellington and South Parkway, located less than a mile south of the shooting scene. A man in a yellow shirt fled and remains at large.
Police have not said that these cases are believed to be connected.
