SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Potawatomi Zoo broke ground on its newest project on Thursday.
“Big Cat Tracks” is an Amur tiger and Amur leopard habitat.
The exhibit is being built on two acres next to the zoo’s existing land.
“Big Cat Tracks” will turn the space into a wooded and more natural habitat for the animals.
“It’s just going to add a whole new value to the zoo. And yes, it’s going to have an economic impact to our community through tourism, through entertainment, and it’s going to continue to drive us as a regional destination surpassing 400,000 visitors a year,” says Josh Sisk, the executive director of the Potawatomi Zoo. “But what’s really special to us here at the zoo is what it’s doing for conservation.”
