ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - Elkhart Community Schools welcomed their students back on Thursday.
That’s why city leaders gathered at Woodland Elementary in the morning to give some safety reminders as the kids return to the classroom.
Elkhart Superintendent Dr. Larry Huff spoke out on safety, especially for the younger students heading to school.
“I think for the littles it’s important to know their real names, their birth names, and know one person’s phone number,” Dr. Huff says. “If a kid ends up in a place that is unfamiliar, we can make sure they get to the right place.”
Dr. Huff also encourages everyone to drive slowly when moving through school zones.
