LILY BAY TOWNSHIP, Maine (WABI) - Crews are still battling a wildland fire on Hardwood Valley Road near Lily Bay Township that started on Tuesday.

The Greenville Firefighters Association say when they first arrived around 5 p.m., they found four pieces of logging equipment and the surrounding woods on fire.

They say they were able to extinguish a skidder and move it away from the larger fire.

A Maine Forest Rangers helicopter and an excavator were brought in to assist in putting out the fire and preventing further spread.

The Forest Service remains on scene as they continue to attempt to fully put out the fire.
