GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — What started as frustration turned into research and learning about the growing water conservation problems in Ottawa County.
Then there was an idea. And now that idea turned into the "Bergabowski” — a beer aimed at raising awareness about water conservation.
“It started off with my own frustration with my own lawn and the amount of energy I was putting into keeping turf grass going,” said Micah Dickinson, the board president of nonprofit Restoration Earth.
He estimates he was using 1.5 to 2 million gallons of water per year just to water his lawn. That prompted him to research other options like native landscaping. He teamed up with some industry experts, who helped him with his own yard.
