BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Ten people recently indicted in the 2023 death of Walker County inmate Tony Mitchell made their first appearances in court on Thursday, Aug. 14.

This was a procedural day in court. One by one, each person went to the podium, pleaded not guilty, and executed their bond.

Employees Arcelia Tidwell, Dayton Wakefield, Robert Madison, Daniel Vickery, and Jacob Edwards are charged with deprivation of rights under color of law.
