MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A Madison man was sentenced to nearly three years in prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, the Department of Justice announced Thursday.
Kory Washington, 21, plead guilty to the charge on June 5, 2025. He will spend 33 months behind bars.
In November 2024, law enforcement in Madison tried to arrest Washington because of an outstanding warrant.
Washington fled from police and threw a handgun. Authorities eventually arrested him and recovered his loaded gun. The weapon had previously been reported stolen in Illinois.
At sentencing, Judge Peterson noted despite his young age, Washington had already committed other, unrelated crimes and that his criminal conduct was escalating.
