TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Unified School District is adopting a new curriculum for its preschool programs.
The decision was reached at this week’s school board meeting, and the new curriculum is called “Teaching Early Literacy and Language,” or TELL.
Reem Kievit, the Senior Director of Community Schools and Pre-K Programs for TUSD, said she’s optimistic about TELL’s effectiveness.
“It’s hopefully going to improve literacy skills for our students – empowering them, preparing them for kinder, and giving them the tools and confidence they need to be successful in school,” she said.
Rebecca Hale, the Lead Teacher at Safford’s pre-K program for low-income families, said she’s excited about the new curriculum as well.
