JASPER, Ind. (WEHT) -- Project managers for both the Loochmueller Group and INDOT took the first 30 minutes of Thursday’s meeting to give details on tier two of the Mid-States Corridor.
INDOT officials say they have decided to not upgrade US 231 and make it a part of the corridor because tier one showed it wasn't time effective along with other issues.
INDOT says they would prefer to not inherit US 231 after the project is completed which caused some members of city council to voice concern about revenue cost of upkeeping the highway if it was Jasper's responsibility.
" That road almost needs to be completely rebuilt, to have it up to a level where, if we ever have to take care of it, I wouldn't want to take care of it in the shape that it is in right now,” Kevin Maley said.
