The St. Thomas Aquinas High School football team from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. will travel thousands of miles for a game later this year. Not everyone is a fan of that decision.

The school revealed on X this week that St. Thomas Aquinas will face NFL Academy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Oct. 8.

The NFL Academy is “an elite football development program for student-athletes” ages 14-18, its website says . The academy has two programs -- one at Loughborough University in England and one at A.B. Paterson College in Australia.

While the trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for St. Thomas Aquinas players, some believe it is also a waste of money.

Rivals posted about the game on X and the replies were filled with upset fans.
