HERMISTON, Ore. – Watermelon Fest is set to make its return to Hermiston this Saturday, kicking off at 9:00 a.m. The event promises a day filled with fun, celebrating the city's heritage and its popular watermelon produce.
Organizers say the festival will feature a vibrant display of red and green, with music and activities for kids. Attendees can enjoy a rotary breakfast followed by live music and entertainment throughout the day. A highlight of the event will be the watermelon eating contests and the unique watermelon bathtub races.
The bathtub races are a crowd favorite, involving two bathtubs from the Hershey Chocolate Factory painted as watermelons. Teams of three will push the bathtubs across the race and finish line, making for a one-of-a-kind experience unique to Hermiston.
